Pictures!!

Adeline Vera
Mommy, Daddy and all four babies.
Richard James
Samantha Elise
Margaret Lindsay

sorry for the delay!!! They are finally here!!

April 17, 2009 I was scheduled for a c-section at 1300, and things were right on time--much to my delight! I delivered four healthy, crying babies at 1309 for A, B, C, and 1310 for D. Three girls and one boy!! I was right after all with my gut feeling. Baby A-- Adeline Vera 4 lb 15 oz 18 inches long Baby B-- Margaret Lindsay 3 lb 10 oz 17 inches long Baby C-- Richard James 4 lb 14 oz 17.5 inches long Baby D-- Samantha Elise 4 lb 5 oz 17 inches long God is sooooo Good!!! I can not believe how wonderfully they are all doing. Richard required a little c-pap overnight just to help him breathe but was off by Sat morning. Adeline and Samantha both had an iv and some nasal cannula o2 but were both off by Sat morning. Our little one, Margaret--did not require an iv or oxygen!!! She is a fighter, just little!! They are so beautiful. Mom had a rough go of it after the c-section and hemorrhaged required lots of meds and some blood---but things got back on track for me by Saturday evening/Sunday morning. Thank you everyone for the prayers!!!!! God is GOOD!!!

Easter Weekend

April 11, 2009 Adam brought Torrie up to visit her mommy today. It was so good to be able to see her. She curled up in a little ball at the foot of my bed and just hung out with me. One of the nice housekeepers, Nipa, had brought some kitty treats for her; so she enjoyed them. I am still very sore today, but trying to keep my outlook positive so I can have a good day. Adam stayed with me until lunchtime and then he went back to get some things done at the house. My mother and father in law were back there working while he was visiting. Many thanks to them. Tomorrow is Easter. I wish I could go to church, but this year it isn't possible. Adam has been reading me the Easter story, though--which has been nice to get to share it with him. Only a few more days now. We're in the home stretch.
April 12, 2009
Happy Easter!!! I woke up early today and was determined to have a good day. I spoke to Adam before he went into church and then got a shower, dressed in a bright color and even put make up on. I haven't put make up on for over 6 wks--since I was admitted. So, I'm going to make the best of the day. It looks wonderful outside, bright and sunny.
Adam and his parents got here around noon. I gave Adam his little "hospital gift shop Easter basket" I made for him--I think he was surprised. Then, we ate a great meal. It was nice to get to spend the day with family and Adam, of course. Jim and Debbie took off after lunch, but Adam stayed with me and we took a cat nap. Then, this afternoon, he took me upstairs for another soak in the bathtubs on labor and delivery. My back is really acting up and causing me a lot of pain. This is one of the few reliefs I get. My determination from the first part of the day had waned a little by the end of the day, but overall--it was a great day.
Tomorrow my doctor will be back and I will only have 4 more days to go. YEAH!!!! Can't wait to meet these babies.

One Week to Go

April 10, 2009 One week to go!!!! I can't believe it. It was another hard day. That "wall" that I hit yesterday is still there. I am so happy to be this far along, but my body is throwing in the towel. My mother and father in law came up today. They will be staying for the Easter weekend. It was great to see them. Plus, I will get some homemade food and they will take good care of Adam. At this point, it is going to be sheer determination that gets me through this next week. If I've made it this far, surely I can go one more week. Everyone's prayers would be much appreciated as my last two days have been filled with lots of tears and pain. One more week---we can do it!!

I've hit a wall

April 9, 2009 I know that all of my pregnant friends have told me that at the end of their pregnancy they just hit a "wall" where they just feel like they are "done" being pregnant. I have hit that point today. I feel like I have had some up and down days the last few weeks, but today was an especially hard day. Besides my back being quite sore, now my belly is even sore. Every movement from the babies is painful. I am so happy at how far we have made it, and feel selfish complaining. However, I truly am questioning my sanity and bodily ability to make it 8 more days. Adam came up before work and took me up to the bathtub to soak. It is the only thing these days that is giving me any relief. I feel weightless in the tub and can get some of the pressure off of my back. I just love these babies so much and am so ready to meet them. I would welcome you anytime before the 17th. If not, April 17th it will be.

33 wks and counting down

April 6, 2009 Well, I've made it to 33 wk by our dating. I can't believe it. I guess the babies won't be wearing the little outfits I had picked out for them to wear on Easter unless they surprise me and come this week before the weekend. It was a hard weekend for me. Adam was working the entire weekend and I missed him terribly. I keep telling myself that it is getting close now, but 11 days still seems like forever to go. The babies have been looking good. Today we had an ultrasound to look at fetal movement, cardiac motion and check fluid levels. They didn't measure them to give growth estimates, but they all looked good and were moving. So, my doctor is happy with me making it through the week without delivering. I think I can, I think I can.......pray that I will have some peace about making it 11 more days.

Another goal reached

32 wks--scary big
April 2, 2009
My final goal was making it into April, but not having the babies on April Fools Day. So, April 2nd was the day. I made it!!! I am very anxious to meet the babies. I'm happy that things are going so well. My blood pressure has been slightly higher, but not enough to cause concern. The babies all seem to be active. Fetal heart rates have been good. I'm just a gestating machine. We have chosen a c-section date. April 17th. According to my doctor's dates; I will be one day shy of 35 wks. According to Adam's dates and our original dating, I will be 3 days shy of 35 wks. Either way.........surely they will come before then.

Putting together a plan

March 31, 2009 Adam was planning on being here at 9am so we could talk to our doctor about our "plan" for the last few weeks. I am 32 wks plus and the babies are not showing any signs of coming out. Adam missed my doctor by 15 minutes; but it was fine because he brought my baby, Torrie, up to see me. My doctor discussed a scheduled c-section after passing 34 wks. We will pick a date officially together with Adam. There was also some discussion as to the possibility of me going home to try and wait out the c-section. Adam was concerned about this since we don't have any family up here to help me with bed rest, but the doctor came back this afternoon and decided to just keep me here until the end. My cervix of steel that i prayed for earlier is still holding up. I've dilated only slightly more, but Baby A has come down even further in the pelvis. It wasn't really a great day overall. Besides getting to see Torrie and Adam, I had a migraine which is never fun. That evening, Adam came back and we watched a movie together. It was a good ending to a rough day,

More Visitors part 2

March 27, 2009
Amy and Megan came up today to visit. It was great to see them. We had a great time just hanging out. Of course, we did the rounds by going up to see the lookout on the 8th floor. Then we just rolled around the hospital and looked at the water fountains, gift shop and other sites. It was great to see them. Adam also has several days off; so I am thrilled that he will get to hang out with me for the next several days.
March 28, 2009
Amy and Megan came back up today and we hung out again. We ate at Subway before they left; then we stopped to throw pennies in the fountain and make wishes before they had to hit the road to get back home. What a nice visit. Next time I see them--babies:)
What happened to black being "slimming"?

More Visitors

March 22, 2009
I woke up early this morning and got showered and dressed in preparation for more visitors. Adam, Naomi, Ken, Jen, and Stephen all come up later in the morning. It was so good to see them. Stephen is getting big. Ken hadn't seen me since Christmas, and he was a little taken back by how big my belly was. We went for another ride up to the 8th floor and then we showed them the floor where I will have the babies.
Mom and Bob brought dinner up around 1:30pm. It was good to have another home cooked meal. Naomi shaved my legs for me before Mom, Bob and she headed back home. It was so good to have them up here. It's always hard to see them leave. Hopefully, they'll be back before too long to welcome the babies!!
March 23, 2009
What a busy day. The doctor stopped the medicine to stop/hold my contractions due to a now constant ringing in my ears that started last night. This can be a side effect from the medicine, but up until now I had only had minimal episodes of ringing. Since 0330 last night, constant ringing to my left ear. So...maybe that will allow something to happen. We'll see. I got up early and showered so I could be ready for Ken, Jen and Stephen to come up this morning. Adam had just walked in the door at 9am when they came and said they were taking me for an ultrasound. Yeah!!! Jen was able to get in on the fun as she walked in the door a few minutes later.
The babies are looking good and getting big. Baby A was kind of hard to see because they are headfirst in the pelvis, but estimated to be 3 lb 7 oz. Baby B was very hard to see because he/she is buried behind everyone else, but estimated to be 3 lb 3 oz. Baby C is on top of everyone and loving it, estimated to be 3 lb 8 oz. Baby D is sitting pretty at the top and is estimated to be 3 lb 12 oz. We were very excited to see that they are growing and closer to reaching 4 lbs everyday.
After we got back to my room, my nurse and I were in a little video for the hospital Family Birth Center. We ate lunch and then Ken, Jen and Stephen had to go. It was so good to see them. Hopefully the babies come soon or else they will be in the field and not able to come back up and see them when they are born.
Jen, Stephen, Me, and Ken.
Later that day, I had some new nurses come and practice putting on the toco monitors on my belly. Everyone needs to learn:) Anyway...it was a long eventful day. I'm so glad I got to spend it with Adam and also able to see my family.

31 wks on my 31st Birthday

March 21, 2009
I can't believe I am celebrating my birthday in the hospital. It is definitely a birthday I will not forget. I got up this am and showered and just put my robe on while I waited for my family and Adam to come up and bring me clothes. I had a visit from my neighbors, Irv and Debbie and their daughter, daughter in law and mother. It was a nice suprise.
I got dressed as soon as my family got here; then we had lunch from home--it was great!! Mom's food. They also brought up presents and Adam brought up cake--totally forgot to take a picture of that though. We had a great time. Mom made a diaper bag and Naomi got me a picture frame for the babies' pictures. Emily and Trevor sent up Wheel of Fortune for the computer. That is going to be addicting since WoF has been my favorite show since I've been home off work. I know--pathetic, but I'm getting quite good. After lunch we had visitors--Barb and Fraenzi--who dropped off the most adorable knitted hats and socks--even a pair for mom and dad.
Barb and Fraenzie
Then, we went for a wheelchair ride. It was very nice. We went on a little detour when we got locked out of the main hospital, but it allowed me to get some fresh air. There is this lookout on the top floor of the hospital; so we went up there and could see all of Madison--it was really pretty. Me and Adam on the 8th floor and Me looking big in the wheelchair. Other than that, we played Wheel of Fortune on the computer, hung out, watched TV, and just enjoyed spending some time together. It was great. (Plus they were able to help Adam out with cleaning the house and getting groceries and all that good stuff.) More good food from home tonight for supper.
Mom, Naomi, and Me playing WOF on the computer!!
I am so thankful for them being able to come up and visit for this weekend. I have been feeling a little discouraged at how uncomfortable I am getting, but all that is forgotten when I see how happy they are that I've made it this far. Ken, Jen and Stephen will be up late tonight and then here to see me tomorrow.
Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes, cards and prayers for me and the babies. We are feeling all the love!!

Birthday Weekend

March 20, 2009
I was so excited because Mom, Bob and Naomi are coming up tonight for my birthday weekend. I can't believe I'll be 31 wks tomorrow according to my doctor. I received flowers for my birthday from Adam and some from my BFF, Amy. They are beautiful. They make my room even more alive. I also have a plant from some friends and a beautiful St. Patricks Day arrangement from my Mom and Dad in law. Adam got here at around 8pm or so after work and then Mom, Bob, and Naomi got here around 9:30pm. It was so good to see them. We just visited for a little while and made a plan for tomorrow. They are bringing me food from home; so that will be good.

Happy St Patricks Day!!

March 17, 2009 Well, we have made it to the date that we told everyone to pray for. Thank you!! Thank you for all your prayers of support!! Things are going well. Pretty uneventful. The babies heart beats have all been good every time they listen to them. I am also still feeling lots of movement. My friend, Melissa, stopped by today to say hi and visit. It was nice. Adam came up to see me after work and that was pretty much my day. Nothing super exciting. Just praying for one more day.

30 wks!!! We made it!! Thanks for the prayers!

March 16, 2009 Adam and I are so excited that we have made it to 30 wks. This was our goal from the beginning (we always said St Patricks Day because it was easier). I woke up very excited. My doctor practically jumped up and down when she came in to see me this morning. She said that the nursery had a little party that I had made it this far. So, I'm feeling pretty happy today. I had a pretty uneventful morning. We had some friends from Chicago come up and surprise us. George and Erika got here around 5pm after eating dinner with Adam. It was so nice to see them. We had a nice visit. Erika is 24 wks pregnant and she looks so cute!! My belly is a little overwhelming and scary compared to her cute belly. I am truly feeling the 5 lbs that I gained this week--it's all in my belly. Hopefully it's all on the babies:) I can't wait to see how big they are. They are constantly moving and rolling around. Baby C has found a nice home under my right rib cage which is a little uncomfortable for me, but he/she seems very fond of their new spot. After our visitors left, Adam and I just cuddled on my big bed and watched TV. He had a headache and I had a sore back; so we were quite a pair. I just want to thank everyone for all their prayers and well wishes that we would make it this far. We feel truly blessed to have had such smooth sailing up to this point. Now we are just thankful for every extra day we get. Our prayers now are just that the babies will be healthy
and strong!! Good night!
(l to r) Adam, Erika and George. Me and Erika. Me at 30 wks--getting very uncomfortable.

Little Scare

March 15, 2009 Today was pretty uneventful really. Adam slept during the day so he could recover from his night shift. Then, he went and picked up our new chair for the nursery. After church, he picked up food and headed over. In the meantime, I had began to have some pain to my belly. I thought maybe I was hungry, but I started contracting around 6:30p also. These contractions were like the ones I've been having except they were a little more painful and more frequent. I did try to eat some of my supper once Adam arrived, but was soon too uncomfortable to eat. Then, when I got up to use the restroom, I was having a lot of pain/pressure in my pelvis--baby A I'm sure. So, I called my nurse and they hooked me up to the toco monitor. Sure enough, I was having quite a few contractions, and I was feeling them. I turned on my side and starting drinking water. The resident came down and saw me and told me that she would check my cervix in a few hours if they didn't subside. I was a little nervous. I hadn't made it to my next goal of St Patricks day yet. However, we just prayed I could make it a little longer; and the contractions subsided by around 11pm. Adam got me tucked into bed around midnight and then he headed home. I prayed that I could keep these babies in until at least 31 wks. I just want them to be as healthy as they can be. Tomorrow, my doctor will be in to see me, and Adam will be up because it is his day off as well. One more week please!!!!

Escape!!

March 14, 2009 I was able to leave the floor for a little bit this morning to go to one of the newborn classes. My doctor did give me the okay. They took me down in a wheelchair. The whole class was 2.5 hrs long; however, I only made it to the half way point. As glad as I was to have a change of scenery, I was super uncomfortable sitting up and starting having a few more contractions. So, I went back upstairs. It was a pretty relaxed day. I slept quite a bit this afternoon. It was a bright sunny day; so I enjoyed that. Adam came over this evening for a little bit and ate supper with me before he headed to work. Just another uneventful day. Praying for at least one more week. Some of my family is coming up next week for my birthday. I can't wait.

29 Weeks and counting.....

March 9, 2009
I am officially 29 weeks today. Yeah!!! I'm getting there. Adam didn't have to work today; so he came up this afternoon and we hung out. We paid bills and watched a movie. It was great to just get to spend some time with him.
March 10, 2009
Adam came up today and we hung out all day. It was great. We watched the movie Australia with several breaks in between. Nothing super exciting other than that. They did hook me up to to toco twice today because I was having contractions every 2 minutes on my early monitoring. I'm not feeling all the contractions; so we'll just wait and see what happens. I need to keep the babies in for another day in the least. My doctor gets back from her trip tomorrow.
March 11, 2009
My doctor walked through the door at 9am. I told her how happy I was to see her!!! She said she was pleased that I was still her. Just wait and see is her plan. Whenever my water breaks or I start contracting--they will deliver the babies. That's the whole plan!
I had a visit from Lou and Bethli today. They are friends from work. It was nice to see them. She is 34 wks PregnFont sizeant and having her shower this weekend. I wish I could go, but I know she understands.
I didn't get to see Adam at all today because he worked out of town a 12 hour shift. That is very hard. He did get on the computer at home with the web cam; so we could see each other at least.
March 12, 2009
Adam brought me breakfast this morning before he went to work. That was so nice just to see him for a few minutes. My doctor came in again this morning. I asked her about a growth ultrasound and she said we will wait a few more wks. So, it will be 4 wks from the last one. That means March 27th. She either has faith in me or else thinks we'll have the babies by then.
My friend, Katie, from work stopped by and brought posters from work to brighten up my room. Now I have posters, flowers and a beautiful plant. It's feeling more like home away from home.
I got to have supper with Adam after work; so that was a nice treat. Other than that, nothing new. Just waiting around.
March 13, 2009
Me and Torrie!!
Today was a special day because I had a special visitor. Adam brought up my feline baby, Torrie, to visit. I couldn't believe it, but the director of the unit said she was allowed to visit. I was so happy to see her. She was kind of indifferent to me since it's been 2 wks since I've seen her. However, she absolutely made my day. Adam said he couldn't believe he was bringing a cat to visit. My doctor has dc'd the toco monitor. She said that I'll know when the contractions are strong and I'm feeling all of them. This is probably true. Sometimes I just can't believe that my pregnancy will actually end at some point. It seems like the babies could stay in there forever. I get excited thinking that it is getting closer to the babies arriving. Then we will know girls or boys and who they look like and all that fun exciting stuff. The longer they stay in, the healthier they will be. So, I'll be content to wait for a while.
My friend, Darci, from work and her son, Noah, stopped by and we had a good visit. I am excited because I get to go out of my room tomorrow. I am attending one of the prenatal classes offered here. My doctor gave me the okay.

Please Pray

March 8, 2009 Everything is fine with me and the babies. We are just hanging out waiting for the babies to decide they're ready to come out. Jim, Debbie, and Brenna brought me lunch today and we visited for a while. Then they headed home because it is supposed to start snowing. Adam came up this afternoon and we took a nap together. That was nice. I so miss being home with him. I would appreciate everyone praying for the First Baptist Church of Maryville. A stranger walked in during the church service this am and shot and killed their pastor. My friend, Michelle, who was just up her yesterday goes to this church, and she is good friends with her pastor and his wife. This is a very hard time for the church and it's members. Please keep them in your hearts while they try to understand why something terrible like this could happen.

A Week Full of Visitors

March 1, 2009
My friend Melissa and her fiance, Dave, stopped by to visit for a little bit during the evening. It was nice to visit.
March 2, 2009
My friend, Bethli, stopped by and visited with me today. My IV has been dc'd they are just doing toco monitoring for 30 minutes per day. Still on medicine every 4 hours to keep the contractions at bay. I'm just trying to get used to my new environment.
March 3, 2009
Two of my friends from Chicago drove up to visit me. Vanessa and Thu arrived this afternoon. We sat around and visited and then the brought me back food after eating out with Adam. It was so nice to see them. I feel very blessed to have such good friends who even come to the hospital to see me.
My doctor left today for vaction; so I'll be a little on edge until she gets back.
March 4, 2009
Friends from work, Katie and Misti, stopped by today and visited. It was great to see them.
My best friend, Amy, arrived this evening. She is going to be staying until Saturday. How nice. This way, Adam will feel good knowing I'm being entertained and he can concentrate a little more on work.
Me and Amy
March 5, 2009
Amy brought me some essential things from Target that I thought would help with my hospital stay. Then, we had manicure/pedicure day. It was easy for me since she did all the work. I am accumulating quite a bit of candy also from all these visitors. I think they are trying to give me cavities. I should probably just call now to set up my dentist appt.
March 6, 2009
Amy did my belly cast today. It only took about 30 minutes or so, and the cast actually set up really fast. She'll take it home tonight and then we will decorate it eventually. I think it is a fun thing to do to remember this big belly that I have.
Adam's parents, Jim and Debbie, and sister, Brenna, arrived around lunchtime or so. Brenna is here on Spring Break from Pittsburgh. I had a few things that I still need from Wal-Mart and Babies R Us; so I talked to them about this. I think they are going to go shopping tomorrow morning.
This evening around 8pm, my girlfriends from high school arrived, Rachel, Michelle, and Angi. It was so nice to see them. I can't believe it's been 2 yrs since I've seen them. That just doesn't seem possible. Michelle is 32 wks pregnant and of course much smaller than me. I know it's normal, but WOW!! I'm feeling huge.
The babies have been very active this week and we haven't had any major events. I just feel that I'm hanging out doing nothing except praying that my babies are getting big.
March 7, 2009
It was a nice day again today. The girls all came back for lunch. We had a pizza party along with Adam. It was wonderful. Then we just visited for a while and they all headed home this afternoon. Then, Jim, Debbie and Brenna came this evening and we had a good time visiting. They were able to get all of the things that I had on my list from Wal-Mart and Babies R Us; so that worked out well.

New Room/Baby Shower

March 1, 2009
My mom and Bob came and visited me today for lunch. The nurses told me that one of the bigger rooms with a full size bed had become available if I wanted to move; so Mom and Bob helped move me to the other room. It is a wonderful room. It has a lot more room and it has 2 huge windows that overlook a garden courtyard. (Of course, it is cold and there is nothing green there now---but maybe before I leave there will be some color.) I was very excited to settle in to my new space. It will have more room for visitors too:) After getting me settled they headed to the baby shower that Adam's co-workers threw for us. I feel bad that I had to miss it, but Adam went to represent us. Of course, he insisted on taking a picture of me in the hospital to show everyone. Lovely!!
(right) Our Host, Beth!! Thanks Beth!!
It looks like it was a really nice shower. I just wish I could have been there. There was good food, cake and really sweet people. At least my mom got to meet some of them.
That evening, Adam brought up the presents and let me open the ones that were wrapped. We were given some really nice things. Again, I feel overwhelmed by how wonderful everyone has been to us and these babies.

The Beginning of Hopefully a Long Hospital Stay

Feb 28, 2009
Contractions are down to every 12 minutes or so and are somewhat irregular; so they moved me back to my room on the antepartum unit. Mom and Bob came over to hang out with me. I was thankful they were here, because then Adam felt like he could go home and sleep after his night shift.
It was a pretty uneventful day. I just tried to get settled in to the routine.
Adam came and saw me for a little bit before he went to work again that night. I had a tough time thinking of my poor little feline baby at home without me. I cried just thinking of her. Adam said she was obviously missing me too. I know I need to be here for a while, but I sure miss her.
Just praying for a few more wks.

What a Day!!

Feb 27, 2009 Things are much different as of today. It started out like any other doctor's appt day. We had the early morning appt, which was good because Adam needed to come back and sleep so he can work overnight tonight. We had the ultrasound first. The babies looked great. They are definitely living in some cramped quarters, but their weights and measurements are great. Only Baby B has dropped off a little with his/her size/weight. Baby A #2lb7oz. Baby B #2lb 2oz. Baby C and Baby D #2lb9oz. That was great news. Then they did the cervical ultrasound and I could see a difference right away just from looking at the screen. It was much different than my last ultrasound. I guess my cervix isn't as tough as I thought after all. We could see Baby A sitting right there on my cervix, and he/she had their hand on top of their head. Hopefully trying to hold himself in. I knew right away that I was looking at bed rest. I had been working myself up to hearing this for the last 2 wks. Honestly, I was feeling quite tired and my belly is feeling very heavy when I'm up. I figured it would be for the best anyway. I knew I was in trouble when the nurse went to get a wheelchair just for me to walk down the hall to the exam room to see the doctor. When the doctor came in, she checked my cervix and gave me quite a shock. She said that I was dilated to 1cm, 25% effaced and she could feel the babies head. HOSPITAL BED REST!!! Oh no, that is definitely not what I wanted to hear. I was not mentally prepared. I started crying. Adam told me it was for the best and he would feel much better knowing I was at the hospital--especially with him being away at work so much. After reaching my room, I was placed on the toco monitor--to measure contractions. Well, I was contracting every 1 minute, but only feeling them every 5 minutes or so. So, my doctor came down and looked and told me I had to go to Labor and Delivery for closer monitoring and to start the meds to stop my contractions. Adam had gone home to get some clothes and toiletries items for me. I called and let him know I was in a different room. I was a little nervous at this point. It was too early, and I wanted the babies to stay in a little longer. I got my IV, blood draw, monitor was hooked up. Then I was given the steroids to help the babies lungs develop a little quicker. Also, IV antibiotics as a prophylactic. Adam had called my mom and his mom and a few friends to let them know what was going on. Of course, my mom informed me that she and Bob were headed up as soon as she got out of work. Not necessary I tried to tell her, but she wouldn't listen. I just feel bad for Adam. He had to go to work with no sleep. Mom and Bob got up around 8pm. I'm doing fine. Contractions are slowing a little. Babies are still doing good. Hopefully they'll be able to get me out of Labor and Delivery tomorrow am and back to the antepartum unit to wait a few more wks. I'm very thankful to have made it this far without bed rest or hospital admission. I am trying to remember that. Plus, everything I do now is so that our babies can have the best outcome possible. I prayed tonight and asked God to please let them stay inside for a few more wks. I feel confident that He is in control, and it is very possible!!

Glucose Test

Feb 24, 2009 I had to do it today. When we went to the office last week I was told the glucose test and the blood tests had to be done between 26-28 wks. Since I'm see the doctor this Friday, I thought I should get it done. I managed to keep the wonderful orange drink down, and we went to the outpatient lab an hour later. I hope I pass because I don't know if I could do the long test and drink more gross stuff. We went and picked up our new minivan afterwards. I drove it home--the first time I had driven it. It is actually quite nice. I just can't wait to look in the back and see four little car seats!!

Shopping Day!!

Feb 21, 2009
Today was the day we had planned to go shopping for the babies. It was a fun day. I had a wonderful gift shower and received an amazing amount of gift cards in the most incredible outpouring of love for these little babies. Mom, Naomi, Jenn and I headed to Babies R Us late morning and had a great time looking around and getting some things for the babies. I was able to get some of my bedding, diapers, bottles, pacifiers and lots more good stuff. It was wonderful.

I did talk them into going out to eat with me after our shopping excursion. We had Olive Garden and then headed back home so I could take a nap. I do feel quite exhausted after my outings. We will have to go to Wal-Mart some other time. Adam made them promise that we would only do one store today.
Mom, Naomi and Jenn kept working after we got back from shopping. I slept. They washed and folded baby clothes, and they also worked on organizing the nursery. It looks somewhat put together now, and all I have to do is order a dresser and nightstand that I want to go in the room. I wasn't sure if they would fit, but after seeing all the cribs up; I know they will. (Bob stayed home and put together bouncy seats while we were shopping--they are so cute!!) We had a pretty uneventful evening, but it was nice to have the family there.
Me in front of one of the cribs. The nursery is monkey themed.
Here's the 26 wk belly shot. Getting big!!
Feb 22, 2009
Jenn and Naomi woke me up at 6am sharp dressed and ready to hit the road. Jenn is anxious to get back to Stephen--and Ken I'm sure. Mom and Bob went to church with our neighbors and then we went to lunch when they got back. They hit the road that afternoon/evening. Not sure when I'll see them next. Maybe for my birthday in March.

Productive Week!!

Feb 16, 2009 We met our Pediatrician today. It was nice to just visit and touch base regarding the babies. I know we will probably be seeing her a lot especially our first year; so it was nice to meet beforehand. Feb 17, 2009 We saw our doctor today. It was just the routine office visit. No ultrasound. She did check the babies heart rates using the bedside ultrasound and everything was fine. Then she checked on my cervix. She said it is still "high" but it is a little soft. Of course, this made Adam freak out. He is so nervous that my cervix is just going to open wide up all of a sudden and the babies are going to fall out. Okay, so I may be exaggerating a little; but I think I will have a little more notice when my labor actually begins. (Sorry for those of you who are not medical and do not want to hear about my cervix.) Feb 18, 2009 My sister in law, Jennifer, came up today. She is such a lifesaver. She started right in cleaning and putting things away and doing a few things that I've aspired to do since we moved, but just haven't done. (Such as put my china on display in my cabinet and put my curio cabinet together with some of my pretty vases and such.) She has always been way more motivated than me and probably accomplishes more than most people do in a day. Anyway, it is going to be nice to have her up here for a few days. She and Adam actually are going to paint the lower level in the next few days also. That will be wonderful now that the floor is done. We're getting there. Feb 19, 2009 Jennifer is just running circles around me while I lay in bed. The house looks amazing and the lower level is shaping up also. We did go out for a brief amount of time tonight and got a bed frame for our mattress/box spring downstairs. That room is going to be priceless once the babies arrive and we have our family/friends coming to help out. Feb 20, 2009 Jennifer went with Adam to test drive the Kia Sedona today. I have been researching online and decided that with the rebates they have now, that may be our best bet for the things that I need and want in a minivan. Of course, the Volvo--my precious car--just can't hold 4 car seats. They actually test drove one of the minivans out for me to see and I was happy with it. Adam then brought back all the numbers and I agreed that it was a good deal for us. Later that afternoon, I got dressed and went with him to sign all of the papers. We are now proud owners of a silver Kia Sedona!!! Not quite as exhilarating as buying my new car, but we will at least be able to put all of our children in the same vehicle. That is a necessity. Mom, Bob, and Naomi came up this evening. They brought along tons of card from the gift card shower. I feel truly blessed and know that these babies are loved already. We are planning on going shopping tomorrow to buy some things for the babies using the gift cards. I'll be the one in the wheelchair:)

Visitors

Feb 12, 2009 My friend, Korrine and her kids, Isaac and Hannah, came up after lunch to visit. It was great to have visitors. I am just laying around more on the couch; so having some distraction was great. We pretty much just hung out today and visited.
Feb 13, 2009
Today we went and saw a short IMAX film in 3D with Korrine and the kids. It was live footage of fish and underwater life. It was pretty good; however, the kids were pretty scared once they started showing fish eating other fish. I have to admit that I jumped myself at a few of the scenes. They had to head home after the movie, but it was a nice visit.
Late tonight my brother, Trevor and his family- Emily and Jacob, arrived to get ready for a productive weekend.
Feb 14, 2009 Happy Valentines Day
I feel bad because I didn't get a chance to get anything for Adam for Valentines Day. He said he doesn't care and I know he doesn't, but I still felt bad. I will have to make it up to him once the babies arrive. Adam gave me a really nice card and a candle.
Jacob getting a bath at Aunt Becky's.
Trevor and Adam got up and started working on the basement. We will finally have a floor after this weekend. Me, Emily, and Jacob just layed around and played. I just enjoyed watching Jacob and playing with him. It was so fun. He is growing up so fast. We watched some Handy Manny and also some of Madagascar 2. It was a good time. By the end of the day, the tile was all laid in the main room of the basement and it looked wonderful. Tomorrow they will finish up.
Feb 15, 2009
Trevor and Adam worked hard to finish up the basement. They got almost everything done. All that was left was the grout for the hallway, which Adam will finish up Monday. Then, he will seal the floor. We went to eat at --where else--Red Robin, and then they hit the road to go home. It was great to see them and get to spend some time with Emily and Jacob while Adam and Trevor worked. The floor looks great!!
Torrie trying out the new floor.

Hospital Tour

Feb 8, 2009 Today we went to the hospital for the hospital tour of the labor/delivery unit. I have never really seen the department; so I thought it would be good for us to do. Of course, it was a little embarrassing to have to be pushed in a wheelchair, but the nurse giving the tour didn't seem to mind. The only thing we really didn't see was the NICU. We saw where it was, but it is such a clean environment that they don't want a bunch of people going through. That's okay. I know I'll see it soon enough:) Afterwards, we went to church. I was glad to go, but it is so hard for me to sit on a hard pew for any length of time. I was so uncomfortable. After that, Adam dropped me at home and he went to work.

I'm getting paranoid

Feb 6, 2009 When I woke up this morning I didn't feel the babies moving around like they usually do when I get up. I figured a little food would do the trick. After eating breakfast and drinking juice, water and milk with maybe 2 little movements--I was getting pretty paranoid. Needless to say, they are usually very active after I eat and am just laying on the couch. I decided to wait for a few hours and see if they woke up, but I still felt very uneasy when I wasn't feeling much. I called the Dr office and was told my Dr was out of town and the one on call just wanted me to come in to get a regular US to check on the babies. That way, I would rest more easily and they would know for sure everything was okay. Sounds simple, right? Get dressed, drive to Madison, check in at registration, go to the 4th floor and then go home if everything is okay. Well, first of all--it takes me forever to get ready and Adam was at work and unable to help. Secondly, I haven't driven really for like 3 wks or so. Besides the fact that once I get to the hospital I usually get pushed in a wc to my regular Dr appt. I was a little worried, but wanted to make sure everything was okay. Luckily, I have some great friends here. I sent a text to my friend, Bethli, and she was all over it. Lou, her boyfriend and my co-worker and friend, met me at the front of the hospital and wheeled me up to my appt--even though he was sick himself. Then Bethli met me there and sat with me during the US. It was the sweetest thing ever!! Good news--all the babies looked good. I think they are just having a lazy day. All their heart rates were lower than their normal, but still in the normal range. The US tech said that they were all moving and all looked well. I was very relieved!! I think I am getting paranoid the further along I get. Even all night long, the babies just fluttered every once in a while, but not their normal bustle of activity with my stomach bouncing all over the place. That's okay......I am just glad to know that they are just resting. Hopefully no more unscheduled visits to the hospital!!

24 wks!! Viability!!

Me and Naomi
Feb 2, 2009 I've made it. What a sigh of relief. Adam went back to work today. My sister came up to stay for a few days!! It was great. We just sat around together and watched the Bachelor and visited and caught up on everything going on. It was awesome!!! Feb 3, 2009 We went to my Dr appt this am. I had my US first, which was the usual 2 hour event. My sister came in with us. It was great to see the babies. They are getting big. They are all over 1 &1/2 lbs. They are about 1 lb 10 oz. They are very squashed in there. Seriously, it was just arms and legs everywhere. Baby C did a back flip during the ultrasound. It was so fun to get to see how active they are even in their confined space. I can't imagine how they are going to get bigger when it is so cramped--but I think it has something to do with my belly getting much bigger. The other really good news was that my cervix is virtually unchanged -- 4.23. My doctor is so pleased. She said the nursery keeps asking about me, but she has nothing to report as of yet. I told her that I am convinced I will make it to 32 wks, but I am trying for the ultimate 36wks. She just smiled and said, "That would be wonderful". No pictures to post this week as we only got a few and they are not that impressive because it was so hard to distinguish between the babies. We went to lunch afterwards and then headed home. Me and Naomi watched a movie while Adam slept--getting ready to work overnight. Feb 4, 2009 Naomi had to go home today:( It was just so good to see her and get to hang out some. I sure wish she lived closer. Oh well, I'll get her up her once these nieces/nephews get here. She won't be able to resist I hope:)
Feb 1, 2009 Adam is such a doll!! He drove me over to a baby shower for a girl at work so that I could see her and congratulate her in person and drop off a gift. It was great to get out of the house. Plus, I got to see some friends from work that I haven't seen in forever. After visiting for 30 minutes or so, we headed out. Adam just drove me around for a while taking the scenic way home since I was inside most all week. It was nice!!
Jan 31, 2009 We had friends over for supper tonight. It was so nice. Lou and Bethli came over. She is 5 wks ahead of me in her pregnancy and much smaller, but that's okay. Adam keeps reminding me that I have 4 babies inside compared to 1. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world; however, I do miss my mobility and getting around a little better. Oh well. I will have 4 beautiful babies to show for at the end of this uncomfortable period.
Jan 29, 2009 Adam put the cribs together today. How exciting!! We are getting closer!! I can't wait.

23 Wks

Jan 26, 2009
I've made it to 23 wks!!! Yeah. Adam has all week off and I am just going to enjoy spending time with him.
I haven't posted belly pics; so I thought I'd show you how I'm looking at 23 wks--BIG!!

Visitors

Jan 22, 2009
Some friends from Chicago came up today to visit. Nick, Becca, and Graycen arrived shortly after lunchtime and we went and grabbed a bite to eat with Adam. Then we came back to the house and just visited. It was a great day. They had a lot of insight for me, too as Graycen was born at 33 wks. I think I am more nervous about the whole NICU experience than I am about having the babies. They relieved a lot of my anxiety and answered several questions for me. Overall, it was just great to see them. They also brought up goodies for the babies--little preemie onesies and pants that are the cutest things I've ever seen. I can't believe my babies will be that little. I wasn't a great hostess as I sat and visited mostly through supper hour and offered to get pizza, but they hit the road so that Graycen could get a nap in while they drove. I did get a picture first, though!!
Jan 24, 2009
Adam was sleeping today when I had an amazing experience. I felt one of the babies as they moved inside of me. Normally, I've been feeling little kicks and stretching on my belly; but this time I felt a little body as it moved. It was such an amazing feeling. I called my mom as I didn't want to wake Adam up since he had worked over night. It was so cool. I have a feeling this is just the beginning.
Friends from Bloomington came up today. Michelle and Jen arrived around 1330. We had a nice visit. It was so good to see them. We didn't do anything--just sat around and talked until they had to hit the road for a long drive home. What great friends I have!!
Jan 20, 2009 We went to our regularly scheduled Dr appt today. My doctor rechecked my cervix and said everything looked fine. I was just told to take it easy--the usual. Two more weeks until I can breathe a big sigh of relief for these babies!! I accompanied Adam to his employer as he had a presentation to give today. It was nice. I met some of the nice people he works with and even received a gift from one of the ladies. She made us 4 sweaters and 4 hats for the babies. They are absolutely adorable and I can't wait to get a picture of all 4 babies in them. We grabbed supper with a friend of mine from work and his fiance. It was a nice evening. Good food and good company. Then home to crash. Just wish it was a little easier to sleep. I'm getting fairly uncomfortable.

Crib time

Jan 17, 2009
Adam's parents came up today to spend the weekend with us. It was a nice day. We went to Babies R Us and bought some diapers as they were having a sale--figured we should stock up when we can. We then went to Baby Depot and got our cribs and matresses--compliments of the Tuites!! It was quite the experience. It took both of our cars and we had barely any room for all of us to get them back home, but we made it. We are very grateful to them for purchasing them. We can't wait to put them together and start getting ready for the babies.
We went out to eat to a nice restaurant for Adam's birthday tonight. I actualy put heels on and some decent clothes--it did take a while to find something that looked right, but eventually we left the house. It was such a nice time. Good food and dessert and everything. It was great.
I forgot to take a picture before we left, but I took one when we got home.
Jan 18, 2009
I pretty much did nothing today as I was worn out from getting out yesterday. I watched two football games and slept on the couch. Pretty exciting. Adam and his mom went shopping for a little while and his dad kept me company watching TV.
Jan 19, 2009 Happy Birthday Adam!!
My hubby is 30 today! Yeah!!! I feel like a heel for not getting to throw him a party or anything, but he was very understanding under the circumstances. I did sneak out of the house last week and got him a card and some dark chocolate. Plus, I got him tickets to the Illini vs WI game through a friend of mine at work. So.....not a total loss.
Today we went to initally look at minivans, but ended up testdriving one. We're not sure what we're going to get yet. I have been researching online, but just wanted to get out there and see one up close and personal. It was a long day and I was pretty tired by the time we got home. His parents then went home that afternoon and I took a nap.
I had been having a lot of tightening feelings in my abdomen since around 5pm today; but didn't think that much of it. I didn't say anything to Adam until around 9pm when it had been continuous off and on all evening even while I was laying in bed doing nothing. He was pretty worried and we ended up calling the on call nurse, who in then called the on call doctor, who in turn called me and told me to come to the hospital for some monitoring.
We got to the hospital at around 2230 and were able to leave by 0200; so, I was happy to get to go home. We had several tests and exams and the babies heart rates were checked and I was hooked up to the monitor to check for contractions. It ended up being uterine irritability--kind of a precursor to contractions. They subsided pretty much after laying there for a few hours. It was kind of scary because I just want the babies to make it to viability at the least--24 wks!! It was our first scare and very minimal compared to what a lot of people go through. Still, we were very thankful that everything turned out well.

First Baby Shower

Jan 9-11, 2009
My mom and sister came up today to help me make sure my house is in order for the baby shower tomorrow. It is always so good to see them. We didn't do much work that night--just sat on the couch and relaxed. Mom was able to feel a big kick from one of the babies--Baby C, I think. However, they decided to play possum once Naomi came over to feel also. Not to worry, I'm sure they will start moving more and more as the weeks progress. My BFF, Amelia and her daughter and Mom also stopped by once they got into town. The are just staying down the rode at a local hotel. It was so exciting to see them, too. I love having company and seeing all of my favorite people. It is so fun!!!
Saturday morning we--okay mostly my mom and sister--did some light cleaning to make sure the house looked good. Then Amelia and her troupe came over and put up decorations and such. Then Vanessa rolled in with a ton of food and goodies. The shower was a huge success in my book because I got to see some of my favorite people in the world. It was so nice to get to catch up and relax with them. Of course, we got some games in and opened presents also. I was absolutely overwhelmed with every one's generosity. I received such wonderful gifts. These babies are truly loved already!! I just can't wait for them to get here and experience it all. Everyone was shooed out so I could take a nap in the evening--which I truly did need as very little activity wears me out. My friend, Nancy, had headed home. Also, my mom and sister had to hit the road to make it back by that night. Then, several of my friends and their families/ spouses/ children came over and hung out for a little while. It was nice to get to visit. Adam had returned from work by this time, and he, too, was glad to get to visit with everyone. After everyone had left, I showed Adam all the beautiful gifts that we had received. He, too, was very thankful for every one's generosity.
Sunday morning we met a few people for breakfast before they headed out. Then we came back to the house and visited with Amelia and her family before they left. Then Vanessa and Kerry and Quin came over. Kerry and Adam headed to the basement to sand the drywall. They are determined to get it finished.
It was a great weekend overall filled with friends/family and great times!!.
