I'm getting paranoid

Feb 6, 2009 When I woke up this morning I didn't feel the babies moving around like they usually do when I get up. I figured a little food would do the trick. After eating breakfast and drinking juice, water and milk with maybe 2 little movements--I was getting pretty paranoid. Needless to say, they are usually very active after I eat and am just laying on the couch. I decided to wait for a few hours and see if they woke up, but I still felt very uneasy when I wasn't feeling much. I called the Dr office and was told my Dr was out of town and the one on call just wanted me to come in to get a regular US to check on the babies. That way, I would rest more easily and they would know for sure everything was okay. Sounds simple, right? Get dressed, drive to Madison, check in at registration, go to the 4th floor and then go home if everything is okay. Well, first of all--it takes me forever to get ready and Adam was at work and unable to help. Secondly, I haven't driven really for like 3 wks or so. Besides the fact that once I get to the hospital I usually get pushed in a wc to my regular Dr appt. I was a little worried, but wanted to make sure everything was okay. Luckily, I have some great friends here. I sent a text to my friend, Bethli, and she was all over it. Lou, her boyfriend and my co-worker and friend, met me at the front of the hospital and wheeled me up to my appt--even though he was sick himself. Then Bethli met me there and sat with me during the US. It was the sweetest thing ever!! Good news--all the babies looked good. I think they are just having a lazy day. All their heart rates were lower than their normal, but still in the normal range. The US tech said that they were all moving and all looked well. I was very relieved!! I think I am getting paranoid the further along I get. Even all night long, the babies just fluttered every once in a while, but not their normal bustle of activity with my stomach bouncing all over the place. That's okay......I am just glad to know that they are just resting. Hopefully no more unscheduled visits to the hospital!!

24 wks!! Viability!!

Me and Naomi
Feb 2, 2009 I've made it. What a sigh of relief. Adam went back to work today. My sister came up to stay for a few days!! It was great. We just sat around together and watched the Bachelor and visited and caught up on everything going on. It was awesome!!! Feb 3, 2009 We went to my Dr appt this am. I had my US first, which was the usual 2 hour event. My sister came in with us. It was great to see the babies. They are getting big. They are all over 1 &1/2 lbs. They are about 1 lb 10 oz. They are very squashed in there. Seriously, it was just arms and legs everywhere. Baby C did a back flip during the ultrasound. It was so fun to get to see how active they are even in their confined space. I can't imagine how they are going to get bigger when it is so cramped--but I think it has something to do with my belly getting much bigger. The other really good news was that my cervix is virtually unchanged -- 4.23. My doctor is so pleased. She said the nursery keeps asking about me, but she has nothing to report as of yet. I told her that I am convinced I will make it to 32 wks, but I am trying for the ultimate 36wks. She just smiled and said, "That would be wonderful". No pictures to post this week as we only got a few and they are not that impressive because it was so hard to distinguish between the babies. We went to lunch afterwards and then headed home. Me and Naomi watched a movie while Adam slept--getting ready to work overnight. Feb 4, 2009 Naomi had to go home today:( It was just so good to see her and get to hang out some. I sure wish she lived closer. Oh well, I'll get her up her once these nieces/nephews get here. She won't be able to resist I hope:)
Feb 1, 2009 Adam is such a doll!! He drove me over to a baby shower for a girl at work so that I could see her and congratulate her in person and drop off a gift. It was great to get out of the house. Plus, I got to see some friends from work that I haven't seen in forever. After visiting for 30 minutes or so, we headed out. Adam just drove me around for a while taking the scenic way home since I was inside most all week. It was nice!!
Jan 31, 2009 We had friends over for supper tonight. It was so nice. Lou and Bethli came over. She is 5 wks ahead of me in her pregnancy and much smaller, but that's okay. Adam keeps reminding me that I have 4 babies inside compared to 1. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world; however, I do miss my mobility and getting around a little better. Oh well. I will have 4 beautiful babies to show for at the end of this uncomfortable period.
Jan 29, 2009 Adam put the cribs together today. How exciting!! We are getting closer!! I can't wait.

23 Wks

Jan 26, 2009
I've made it to 23 wks!!! Yeah. Adam has all week off and I am just going to enjoy spending time with him.
I haven't posted belly pics; so I thought I'd show you how I'm looking at 23 wks--BIG!!

Visitors

Jan 22, 2009
Some friends from Chicago came up today to visit. Nick, Becca, and Graycen arrived shortly after lunchtime and we went and grabbed a bite to eat with Adam. Then we came back to the house and just visited. It was a great day. They had a lot of insight for me, too as Graycen was born at 33 wks. I think I am more nervous about the whole NICU experience than I am about having the babies. They relieved a lot of my anxiety and answered several questions for me. Overall, it was just great to see them. They also brought up goodies for the babies--little preemie onesies and pants that are the cutest things I've ever seen. I can't believe my babies will be that little. I wasn't a great hostess as I sat and visited mostly through supper hour and offered to get pizza, but they hit the road so that Graycen could get a nap in while they drove. I did get a picture first, though!!
Jan 24, 2009
Adam was sleeping today when I had an amazing experience. I felt one of the babies as they moved inside of me. Normally, I've been feeling little kicks and stretching on my belly; but this time I felt a little body as it moved. It was such an amazing feeling. I called my mom as I didn't want to wake Adam up since he had worked over night. It was so cool. I have a feeling this is just the beginning.
Friends from Bloomington came up today. Michelle and Jen arrived around 1330. We had a nice visit. It was so good to see them. We didn't do anything--just sat around and talked until they had to hit the road for a long drive home. What great friends I have!!
Jan 20, 2009 We went to our regularly scheduled Dr appt today. My doctor rechecked my cervix and said everything looked fine. I was just told to take it easy--the usual. Two more weeks until I can breathe a big sigh of relief for these babies!! I accompanied Adam to his employer as he had a presentation to give today. It was nice. I met some of the nice people he works with and even received a gift from one of the ladies. She made us 4 sweaters and 4 hats for the babies. They are absolutely adorable and I can't wait to get a picture of all 4 babies in them. We grabbed supper with a friend of mine from work and his fiance. It was a nice evening. Good food and good company. Then home to crash. Just wish it was a little easier to sleep. I'm getting fairly uncomfortable.

Crib time

Jan 17, 2009
Adam's parents came up today to spend the weekend with us. It was a nice day. We went to Babies R Us and bought some diapers as they were having a sale--figured we should stock up when we can. We then went to Baby Depot and got our cribs and matresses--compliments of the Tuites!! It was quite the experience. It took both of our cars and we had barely any room for all of us to get them back home, but we made it. We are very grateful to them for purchasing them. We can't wait to put them together and start getting ready for the babies.
We went out to eat to a nice restaurant for Adam's birthday tonight. I actualy put heels on and some decent clothes--it did take a while to find something that looked right, but eventually we left the house. It was such a nice time. Good food and dessert and everything. It was great.
I forgot to take a picture before we left, but I took one when we got home.
Jan 18, 2009
I pretty much did nothing today as I was worn out from getting out yesterday. I watched two football games and slept on the couch. Pretty exciting. Adam and his mom went shopping for a little while and his dad kept me company watching TV.
Jan 19, 2009 Happy Birthday Adam!!
My hubby is 30 today! Yeah!!! I feel like a heel for not getting to throw him a party or anything, but he was very understanding under the circumstances. I did sneak out of the house last week and got him a card and some dark chocolate. Plus, I got him tickets to the Illini vs WI game through a friend of mine at work. So.....not a total loss.
Today we went to initally look at minivans, but ended up testdriving one. We're not sure what we're going to get yet. I have been researching online, but just wanted to get out there and see one up close and personal. It was a long day and I was pretty tired by the time we got home. His parents then went home that afternoon and I took a nap.
I had been having a lot of tightening feelings in my abdomen since around 5pm today; but didn't think that much of it. I didn't say anything to Adam until around 9pm when it had been continuous off and on all evening even while I was laying in bed doing nothing. He was pretty worried and we ended up calling the on call nurse, who in then called the on call doctor, who in turn called me and told me to come to the hospital for some monitoring.
We got to the hospital at around 2230 and were able to leave by 0200; so, I was happy to get to go home. We had several tests and exams and the babies heart rates were checked and I was hooked up to the monitor to check for contractions. It ended up being uterine irritability--kind of a precursor to contractions. They subsided pretty much after laying there for a few hours. It was kind of scary because I just want the babies to make it to viability at the least--24 wks!! It was our first scare and very minimal compared to what a lot of people go through. Still, we were very thankful that everything turned out well.
